Bastet, a national deity of ancient Egypt, was the cat headed goddess of the beneficial aspect of the Sun, opposing Sekhmet, who personified the sun's destructive power.  Bast was said to be the sister or daughter of Ra, and also his wife.  She was a kind goddess, and protected humans against evil spirits and contagious disease.  Her festivals were lighthearted and full of joy. She is depicted here seated in her full cat form.

This statue is made of hand-painted cold cast resin and stands 5-1/2" high.
