Poppets are a strong form of sympathetic magick that can be used for any
purpose you wish -- love, fertility, healing, prosperity, psychic ability, job
hunting, skills, etc. To use a poppet, stuff the body with herbs,
gemstones, or other items with magickal correspondences linked to what you wish
to achieve (the correspondence tables in our Book of Shadows can help you find items appropriate to your
purpose). Write down what you wish to achieve with the poppet on a piece
of paper and put that into the poppet's body as well. If desired, add
something belonging to the person represented (e.g., a photo, lock of hair,
etc.). Sew the poppet shut. While working on your poppet, be sure to
concentrate on the purpose of the poppet and think positively about the success
of your work (negative thoughts and doubts will put a damper on your magickal
efforts). Consecrate the poppet, being sure to state who the poppet
represents and what you wish it to accomplish (for example, "This poppet
represents me and its purpose is to draw wealth and prosperity into my
life."). Breathe a breath of life into the poppet and ask deity to help
the intented action come true. Light a candle, preferably in a color
linked to what you wish to achieve, and while it burns envision the
successful outcome of your poppet magick in your head. When you are done,
wrap the poppet in a clean, white cloth and store it where it will not be
disturbed, preferably in a box of its own. If the poppet represents you,
you may wish to keep it under your pillow for a week so that it can absorb
your energy before it is placed in a box. Keep the poppet until the
purpose is achieved or until the herbs lose their fragrance, in which case the
poppet should be restuffed with new herbs. To dispose of the poppet,
say a few words asking deity to release the poppet from its connection to a
person and purpose, then bury the poppet outside. |
